See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
The Guelder Rose is located on Southport's sea front with great views over to Blackpool and the Irish Sea. The sea can also be spotted on the rare occasions that it comes up to the sea wall. The name Guelder Rose is that of a flowering deciduous shrub, not a rose, and originates in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The connection with Southport is unclear! Although only opened in October 2013 by the Mayor of Sefton, the pub looks as though it has been there for much longer. It's on the Marine Drive next to Southport Pier and close to Ocean Plaza with its shops, restaurants, cinema, 10-pin bowling alley and hotel but is some way from the town centre. This Marston's pub is food orientated and aimed at families with inside and outside children' s play areas as well as an extensive outside drinking and eating patio . Inside there are several different rooms with both open areas and secluded corners. Food is served all day and the carvery, which finishes at 9.30pm, is very popular. Beers will come from the Marston's family of breweries .
